Option 1: connect directly to the pod server
Do you want to develop your own software that makes use of personal data stores? You can connect directly to the pod server of the Dutch Data Vault Foundation.
What you get:
- Direct access to the Solid-based data store infrastructure
- Full interoperability via open standards
- A reliable, independent infrastructure free from commercial conflicts of interest
What SNDK requires:
- Users retain full control over their own data at all times
- Data may never be copied, stored, or traded beyond explicit consent
- You participate in SNDK’s governance and comply with the terms of use
- SNDK charges fees to cover operational costs — as a non-profit foundation, these are kept as low as possible
Option 2: use Upod from Utonomy
The fastest and easiest way to integrate personal data stores into your own channels is through the Upod software. Upod is built on the same open standards as the SNDK infrastructure and provides ready-made building blocks for consent management, user authentication, and access to personal data.
What Upod offers:
- Simple integration into existing websites, apps, and platforms
- Fully GDPR-compliant and privacy by design
- Scalable from pilot to large-scale rollout
- Support for implementation and further development
Upod is owned by Utonomy — the company that further develops and commercialises the software. Utonomy supports businesses from initial exploration through to live implementation.
Not sure which route suits you?
Both options use the same underlying infrastructure and open standards. The difference lies in where you want to place control: do you build directly on SNDK’s infrastructure, or do you use the ready-made software from Utonomy?
If in doubt, we are happy to help.
